?Hydraulic Clown Head Enterprises, founded in 1999, is the partnership of composers/producers Atom Smith, Brad Cooper and Buck Down, who built and work out of Klownhead studio in Los Angeles. Their music is well known in the underground and Burning Man communities,
especially in Los Angeles and San Francisco. As the main writing and production team for the Mutaytor, which is a national, soon to be international, touring and recording act. In 2006 Mutaytor proudly joined the CAA family, the largest entertainment company in the world.
The partners in HcH are among the most active artists in Los Angeles, creating and producing music for stage, corperate events, commercials, web sites, video games, film, television and new media. Current collaborations with Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzman [Grateful Dead Drummers, Apocolypse Now score], Mike Gordon [Phish], Zakir Husein on Planet Drum and Rhythm Devils as well as with Chris Vrenna [Nine Inch Nails] for NCSOFT have pushed their music into new and intersting directions from world and 60’s psychedlic rock to industrial.
HcH has a flair for modern composition and a niche for sound-alikes. Blending electronic music with world, Jazz, classical, funk and rock elements mixes the palette for their “new school” approach to film sound, score, mixing and sweetening.
Today’s leading composers, like the best of the past, are constantly breaking new ground. From Bernard Herman’s score to The Day the Earth Stood Still to Wendy Carlos’ A Clockwork Orange to Thomas Newman’s American Beauty and Hans Zimmer’s Black Hawk Down, the best
remembered scores are those that break new ground and give fresh sound for the images they were created for. This is what HcH believes
goes into a great score. |
